Sorry I didn't blog last week but work got crazy busy and I was on 12 hour shifts every day. I just couldn't find the time, but right now I'm currently blogging from a beautiful lodge cabin in the Yorkshire Dales look out for a blog post which makes a change from blogging from my bedroom.
It all started when I was scrolling on facebook one day and my friend posted a link about her beauty blog 'Birds Words' link here I started reading through all kinds of posts about beauty and just found myself becoming so interested in reading about beauty products in so much detail, that it gave me so much inspiration I had to message her about it because I had questions.
That's when 'Oh Simple Thing' was born and I'm really proud of myself for sticking to it as blogging has now become a part of my life.
Everything you see/read on my blog has it's own personal touches which makes all blogs unique but what I've learnt over the entire year which until recently was how to balance work/life and blogging without the stress, as I've said from the beginning I blog because I enjoy writing about beauty, fashion and lifestyle and I don't force myself so it starts to feel like work. It has also given me a chance to brush up on my photography skills, so much that I feel like I need to move on and upgrade my bridge camera to an SLR as I feel very limited when it comes to those macro shots. It's become kind of a project to me as I designed my blog layout all from photoshop to HTML with the help from tutorials which is something i'm quite proud of and i'm always tweaking bits now and then.
My most enjoyable posts to write about have to be the more personal types such as my travel posts, monthly favourites and just general chatty posts like these link and link. My most popular posts are link and link.
I have definitely changed in so many ways since becoming a blogger as I can no longer shop the same. I'm constantly on the lookout for new products to try, whereas before I'd be like oh Rimmel has a new collection out when it's been out for months. Now I know release dates of when products appear in shops thanks to bloggers. Another thing that's changed about me is I can never just buy something and think oh this is nice, no I think okay first I need to take photos before I use this and how does it feel? how long does the colour last? etc. Blogging has definitely become an obsession in my life and I have gained so much make up in my collection which I honestly love.
Even though my blog is still a secret hobby to me that my family and friends know nothing about, well until someone I know from school decides to follow me on Instagram. I still love and will carry on blogging. I don't do it to gain fortune and fame and I don't care about the number of followers I have or comments on my posts but that's nice to know someone's reading it out there but simply for the pure enjoyment I get from it.
If you're reading this thinking about starting a blog then let me give you a bit of advice.
Think of a name that's personal to you and just go for it, you'll never know if you'll enjoy it until you try. Don't compare other blogs to yours when you're just starting out or ever in fact as you have to remember, we all have to start somewhere and things don't grow overnight, you have to work hard and it will start to show. Read a wide variety of blogs from different styles as this will help give you inspiration and spark off some blog post ideas and by reading more blogs it will help when it comes to writing, if your not very confident in your english skills. So that's some tips for you that i've picked up along the way.
I can't believe my little space on the web is now 1 year old. Thank you to everyone for all your support and lovely comments and here's to another year of blogging.
