Is The Revlon ColorStay Foundation Really Worth The Hype?

Revlon Colorstay Foundation review

Revlon Colorstay Foundation review

I think it's about time I wrote a review on this as it's had many, many weeks of testing now.

I have the normal/dry skin in the shade 110 Ivory RRP £12.99 which is cool toned with a satin finish. I've wanted to try this for so long as I was hoping it would be a good dupe for my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation which I just love so much as it has similarities being full coverage, no pump and a glass bottle.

I think the shade range is very good to find your perfect match as it has a good variety in cool tones if you're pale like me. Let me start on the coverage, this is my favourite thing about this foundation and one of the reasons why I'm still using it. It's medium to high which covers redness and blemishes well, even when you apply a light layer and it's buildable.

Does it really last for 24hrs? no it doesn't. I find it does start to fade slightly when I get home from my 8 hour working day and this also depends on how much I've touched my face but even after my zumba sessions I know I shouldn't wear make up whilst exercising it's faded. It isn't heavy or cakey though but one thing I will say is it's not suited for dry skin as it clings to dry patches, I don't know if oily/combination would work best for me but I wasn't impressed by this.

I've tried this with/without a primer and I'd recommend using a primer to make it last a bit longer and always set this foundation with a powder as it just wiped away when I touched my face if I don't. I've tested this out by applying both with my Real Techniques Buffing brush and RT Complexion sponge and both work just as well.

Overall I've had a love/hate relationship with this foundation as I love it for it's coverage, the lightweight feel but not for when I have dry skin which has put me off this foundation slightly so would I repurchase? probably not. If i'm honest I'm a little disappointed it didn't work well with dry skin to say how much I payed for it as I know another drugstore foundation which is just under this price if not better. Just because this didn't work for me though doesn't mean it won't for you either.

Have you tried this foundation? What's your thoughts on it?
