I feel like i've left this post a bit late as holiday season is almost over, but I have one booked in October so it's not that late for me.
In July, me and Sam went away to Portugal, Lagos for a week (which feels like forever now) and this is what was in my make up bag on my travels.
The Base's
So I tried to pack light but last time I went light I got a breakout (probably from all the sweat & suncream) and had nothing to cover it so I decided to take a bit of a variety and packed my currently using Gosh Primer Plus + Hydration 003 £13.99 I can't not apply a primer before putting my make up on now, it makes such a difference in the staying power as this keeps my make up lasting at least 8+ hours throughout the day which is not something I expected when I bought this. Next something I will always take with me because it's a favourite of mine and that is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation £30 I wrote a full review on this a while back so if you want to read that click here. This is something I've been using a few months now and I have been loving L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation £7.99 it's full coverage which gives a smooth matte finish and the matte does hold all day but I wouldn't say it would be good for oily skinned people as my oily part on my face is my chin and it doesn't last all day on that area but the primer does help it I think. For my lighter base this is something I got in my Birchbox and that is Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser £27 I like to wear this in the day when I just need a bit of coverage but something quick to put on, I have the shade light which blends in to any light skin tone and it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. I can not leave my trusty concealer behind as I use this most days to cover up blemishes and redness and that is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £4.19 many people have raved about this concealer and so they should because it is the best drugstore concealer around, high coverage, long lasting what more do you want from a concealer really.
The Eye's
So first let's start with the eyeshadow palette, of course you have to take along with you a good palette with a good variety of colours so how can I not take my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, I wrote a full review on this back in March click here to read that. For my brows I like to keep them simple and just use brow gel as I have thick brows anyway so they just get filled a bit whilst keeping the hair in place so I took with me the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara £4.99 I love using this as it lasts all day and gives it a very natural look but the only problem is the big ball brush, as it's hard to get control of the tiny hairs and you end up cleaning the remains of the product around your eyebrow. I decided the take two mascaras for day and night looks for the day I would wear my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara £19.50 which is great for lengthening and for night Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara £7.99 as you can see these aren't the full size products which is why I took them with me as there in travel sizes, for eyeliners I took two, one is my all time favourite everyday liner which is Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner £13.00 this does stay on all day and it is so easy to remove and just incase, I brought along my brown smudge eyeliner which is Kiko Automatic Precision Eyeliner and Khol £5.90 I wrote about this in my Kiko haul not too long ago if you click here
The Lip's
I thought three lipsticks would be enough to take away with me and I always like to wear a nice coral orange lip on holiday so I took Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm £7.99 these are so pigmented and have a very minty taste. For my everyday use and throughout the whole summer I have been wearing Kiko Kiss Balm Lip Balm SPF 15 £5.90 this gives a very sheer colour without leaving the lips feeling sticky. Along with wearing a lot of oranges over the summer I do like to wear some bright pinks so I took the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick £4.99 in the shade 016 Heartbreaker, this lasts up to 8 hours which has a smooth creamy texture and not drying on the lips.
The Cheek's
For summer I love everything from shimmer, bronzer to orange coral tones so I brought them all with me, we have two glowing products from Boots No7 with the Shimmer Palette in Rose for £13.50 this gives your cheeks a lovely rose colour with a hint of shimmer when it catches the light, I used this everyday throughout summer as it gives a nice natural flush. Another product from No7 that I wore a lot on holiday was the Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter £9.95 this gives a gorgeous soft dewy glow, it glides on the cheeks so easily and it blends well. As I'm paled skinned, tanning isn't something that is achievable for me so I need a little help from bronzer so I took the most loved bronzer I own and that is the Benefit Hoola £23.50 as you can see this isn't a full sized version which also makes it great for traveling but this bronzer is perfect for contouring and just adding a bit of a sunkissed glow to my cheeks and then moving on to the blusher, I decided to take my trio sleek palette £9.99 because I do like to mix up my blushes on different days and this is in the perfect travel compact with a big mirror and three highly pigmented summer themed colours, my go to summer palette. For blushes Sleek is an all time favourite for a good quality drugstore blush.
So that's everything that came along with me and what I will be taking with me again in October
Let me know what your favourite things to wear on holiday are?
