Imagine Dragons & Everything Everything | November Gigs

Imagine Dragons
Friday 6th November 2015

For Sam's 21st Birthday I bought him tickets to see one of his favourite bands live. I am a fan of their first album but never really got into the second one that well, so I knew I wouldn't know a lot of songs being played. I wasn't as close to the stage as I hoped but it was still a decent spot at least I thought. Imagine Dragons start up the show and next thing I know Dan (lead singer) appears to being getting closer and closer to me and I'm that close I can see his face as I didn't even notice there was an ego ramp.

I was quite surprised at the audience as it was a very mixed age but I don't know what I was expecting really. I was near a super fan who screamed every song lyric and recorded videos on there phone which made me laugh because I get his enthusiasm for the love of a band as I was like this watching my favourite band Keane back in 2009. Imagine Dragons played all there hit's from Radioactive to Demons from the album Night Visions and even my favourite track 'Amsterdam' which I'm so happy that I got to see being performed live. Dan was very chatty to audience which was nice as he acknowledged a hardcore fan near the front row and pronounced 'Nottingham' in a strong american accent which is now my favourite thing ever.

One thing I noticed when watching them perform songs from the latest album Smoke & Mirrors was I listened to the lyrics more instead of singing the lyrics outloud and I actually learnt a few songs and found myself singing Shots, I'm So Sorry, The Fall and Trouble over the next few days after the gig because they were stuck in my head and that's when I started getting into the second album more.

They ended the show on a bang by playing the finale song 'The Fall' and whilst the lyrics being sung out 'ready for the leaves, ready for the colours to burn to gold and crumble away' hundreds of paper leaves were shot out from the ceiling which I managed to catch a few and the thought thing that came into my mind was these would be great blogging props so keep an eye out for those soon. Overall it was an enjoyable night and I would see them again, just wished I'd of got into the second album more but it made me connect with it seeing them live.

Everything Everything
Wednesday 11th November 2015

I've been a fan of this band for a good 5 years now and have every album they've released and they never disappoint me. For those of you who have never heard of them I'd describe their music as indie/electronic rock, they are very different and there lyrics make no sense which is one of the reasons why I love them and Jonathan's voice is incredible and high. So when their third album 'Get To Heaven' was released this year I was so excited to see them live again and thankfully they always return to Nottingham. This has been the fourth time seeing them live, the first time as a support act and I always enjoy myself.

They are definitely moving up in the world as this time they performed at rock city which is an upgrade from the normal Rescue Rooms venue. I walk into the main stage and could not believe it when I was right at the barriers, was honestly not expecting that at all so I got a really great view the whole night, no annoying tall people blocking my view who's with me on this one.  The show started off with two support acts, the first a young solo artist from Nottingham playing a few of her songs on her acoustic which was lovely and I could see how nervous she was but that's understandable and the second was the most bizarre girl group I've ever seen and I'm gonna be honest, I did not enjoy there music but they were great singers/musicians.

Finally EE appear on stage and start with 'To The Blade' this being the first track off their new album. They played every song off their album which surprised me because normally there's at least a few songs that's too complicated to be played live. They played some of the classic singles such as 'My Kz Ur Bf', 'Cough Cough' & Photoshop Handsome' which the crowd went wild for. Towards the end people were really getting into the show and even formed 'Pits' which if you give them a listen, it's definitely not that kind of scene. They absolutely smashed my new favourites 'Get To Heaven' & 'Sun, Spring, Winter, Dread' which I was dying to hear live and liked to inform us that 'Nottingham you are a fucking great crowd!' which I felt really pleased about because this will only make them more than likely return again.

I cannot wait to see them again and hope they do come back soon!

Who have you seen live recently? got any funny gig stories to share?

Benefit Real Cheeky Party Kit | Limited Edition

I don't know about you but I've been waiting for Benefit to release their Christmas sets in hope that a blush set would be available again and they didn't fail to disappoint.

Last Christmas Benefit released a very similar set to this one which I did miss out on so that's why I bought one early this year because I wanted to try out a range of blushes before buying a full size one.

The set contains five powders in a variety of colours, a mini They're Real mascara, a mini They're Real push up gel eyeliner and a small sample of the watt's up highlighter which all come in a metal tin which could be reusable as you can take the products out from the cardboard tray.

Dandelion - a really light baby pink shade that can be used as a blush or finishing powder. The colours buildable and contains a hint of shimmer, a really natural soft colour for everyday.

Rockateur - a rose gold shade that has a shimmer to it when you buy the full size but this sample is all matte and is my favourite shade of them all it's the perfect autumn staple. It's my natural shade as rose blushes suit my complexion best. Again buildable in colour and long lasting.

Sugarbomb - four shades of peach, plum, pink and rose which swirl together to form a beautiful pink, if you want you can use the individual shades on the apples of your cheeks.

Hoola - a soft matte bronzing powder which gives a natural tan, and is great for contouring as it doesn't make you look orange or muddy, it's the perfect shade even for fair skin.

CORALista - a warm coral pinky shade which I know i'm going to love in summertime, it goes great with hoola and really gives your cheeks a bit of warmth and a healthy glow.

Watt's Up -  a soft champagne coloured highlighter which comes in a smooth cream making it easy to dab onto the cheek and brow bones, it's so shiny and works great with flash photos. If you're looking for a subtle glow then this isn't for you.

They're Real Push Up Liner - this is a matte black gel eyeliner which lasts 24hrs and will not budge or smudge and not to mention it's waterproof. If you struggle with wings then the slanted tip really helps.

They're Real Mascara - a jet black mascara that lengthens, curls and separates the lashes. It has a long lasting formula that won't smudge and has a special plastic brush with a ball on the end to help coat those lashes. I love this mascara and would recommend everyone to give it a try.

L to R - Dandelion, Rockateur, Sugarbomb, CORALista, Hoola, Watt's Up
For any Benefit or make up lover this would be the perfect gift for christmas and for the price £29.50 this is an absolute bargain as a full size blush costs £23.50 plus this will last me ages as I can use it all year round and it will be great for traveling.

Three Way On How To Style A Headband

I love to wear hair accessories such as bows, hair slides and headbands. They might sound like there for kids but they are for everyone it just all depends on how you style them. If anyone out there has been looking at head scarves/headbands and didn't feel brave enough to wear them? I know how that feels Well let me show you three ways on how I like to style them to see if this changes your mind.

Hair Down
For anyone who struggles to put in a headband with their fringe on show well let me give you a tip, instead of just putting the headband on first and pulling hair forward, as this never worked for me so I learned that If you tie up the hair you want behind the band first and then place the band through the ponytail, remove the hair tie and you're all done. I like to add in some curls and wear a red lip to match the red with the band

Hair Up
This is probably the most easiest way to style a headband ever! you can wear your hair in a ponytail or a bun but I prefer the ponytail and I have to add in a few grips to make the headband stay in place. I always leave my fringe with some side bits as I've been doing this for years now, I just think I look weird if I don't.

Hair In Plaits
For this look I'd recommend putting in the headscarf first as you'll be able to hide it more when you go to braid your hair. This is probably my most favourite look out of the three I tend to do one or two plaits depending on how I'm feeling.

All these hairstyles are really quick and easy to do and if anyone knows anymore ways on how to style a headband/ headscarf then please share in the comments.

What's your favourite hair accessories? How do you style your hair with a headband?

Monthly Favourites | October

How are we in November already !? I'm no way near prepared to start christmas shopping yet or feel at all christmassy just yet. I thought I'd start November's posts off with talking about some favourites of mine from last month.

Tartan Headscarf

I do love hair accessories as I love to try out new styles because I get bored of having the same style everyday, so when I saw this headscarf from New Look which I can't find online sorry in one of my favourite tartan colours I thought hmm... could I pull this off? as I'm not the most confident fashion trender. I've been wearing this the most this month and If you're interested in how I style this then look out for a post sometime this month.

This has been my favourite autumn nail colour which I bought in a set. This is my first time using essie polishes and I love them, so rich in colour with a huge variety, glossy and hardly any chips. Deep purples are my favourite colour to wear around this time of year.

I find lip crayons the most easiest products to wear and these bourjois ones have been my favourite for everyday wear, they are glossy not sticky but lip balm style and help moisturise the lips with a tint of colour, so this brick red has been my fall alternative when I don't fancy a matte lip. They don't wear for long but the darker colours leave behind a stain which helps the colour last longer.

Never did I have a problem with dry hands until the beginning of my 20's so I've been using this, whenever I remember, it's not greasy and takes less than a few seconds for it to sink into the skin. It contains sweet almond oil and Brazil nut oil which is for all skin types.

This isn't the first time this moisturising lotion has made an appearance on my blog. I always go back to this cream as it just relieves dry itchy skin in an instant, my eczema is trying to fight back but I have it under control using this whenever I start to feel uncomfortable.

What's been your favourites in October?

My Trip To The Yorkshire Dales

So last week, me and Sam took a well deserved week away from work to the lovely Yorkshire Dales and stayed in a beautiful wooden lodge.

The lodge provided us with free wifi, a log burner and a bubbly hot tub which was my favourite, this relaxing week did give me a chance to catch up on some of my favourite tv shows. Other than staying cooped up in the lodge all day, we did go into York's city centre a few times which was about an hour away from where we were staying. I had planned to do lots of walking and some nice landscape photography practice but sadly the weather did let me down as expected around this time of year but it was just constantly raining and foggy which isn't very comfortable to walk in as talking from experience when one day we did have a little walk around the area while there was a dry spot.

On wednesday we decided to buy some pumpkins and do some carving as halloween was approaching and thursday night we went on a ghost walk in York, which was fun as we got a mini tour around York and managed to see some tourist sights, such as the York Minster, The Guy Fawkes Inn pub and my favourite part of York...The Shambles which is just stunning. One thing I noticed about york is how creative this city is too, it's beautiful architecture and so many photographers are out and about but I don't blame them because there is so many photo opportunities in the city.

York is definitely a city that I will be returning too and me and Sam have agreed we will be having another holiday in a lodge because we enjoyed it that much.

My Creepy Doll Halloween Costume

 Happy Halloween!

I celebrated this last weekend as my friend is working tonight so halloween has kind of dragged a bit for me but I've been dying to share with you all this year's costume.

It took me a while to choose what halloween look to go for this year as I didn't want to go for the usual witch, cat, vampire etc and then I found a cracked face doll picture and wanted to give it a try.

I think it was quite an easy makeup look that anyone could do and here's how I did it

For the white base I used Shazaroo which I applied with a damp sponge, for my cheeks I kept it natural and used Benefit's Rockateur. You don't have to use high end blushes, I just love this colour that's why I used this for a subtle flush on the apples of my cheeks.

On the eye's I used Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in the colour smoke and covered my whole lids, for the crease I used the black from the Bourjois Smoky Eyes Trio palette and then added mascara on my eye lashes. Under the eyes I don't own any red eyeshadow so I used the Max Factor Creme Puff blush in the shade 'Gorgeous Berries' which did the job just as well as it really blended well and gave a smokey effect. For the cracks I used Maybelline's Gel Liner pen as I had more control over the thickness of the cracks and knew they would stay in place. For my lips I've wanted to do this for a while and I probably could get away with this look on a night out but that is the black and red ombre lips. I used Rimmel Kohl eyeliner to line my lips and my Ted Baker lipstick which I got for christmas in the shade Red it doesn't have a name and I just rubbed my lips together to smudge the colours and then added a red lipgloss on top from Seventeen to add some shine.

For my hair I simply put it in pigtails and plaited them, I sprayed white hair spray all over to make it look more creepy.

The clothes were quite simple, a plain white men's shirt from tesco and I already own a black pinafore dress which I got from New Look last year, on top I wore a black and red apron which my mum had in her fancy dress collection which she probably got from ebay,  I then wore some long black socks which I already own and some flat black shoes.

I hope everyone is enjoying their halloween, I will be spending the night by watching The Addams Family Values film and eating halloween sweets of course.

What did you dress up as on halloween? How did you spend your night?

My Top 10 Drugstore Favourites

Rachele from the blog 'The Hunt For Fabulous' decided to set up a collaboration post on our Top 10 Drugstore Favourites. So she took to twitter to round up some bloggers as twitter is great for the blogging community. As this is my first collab post it's nice to meet other bloggers and see what's their drugstore favourites.

Most of my favourites are beauty related but I do have a skin care and hair care product thrown in there.

This is a full coverage foundation which has become my cheaper alternative as my everyday base, it gives you a flawless finish covering all blemishes and redness which I suffer from with a long lasting matte result, I don't find this cakey or drying but I do apply full coverage foundation with a sponge as there textures can be quite thick and quick setting. I just love how long lasting the coverage is for a drugstore foundation as it's stayed on through my long 12 hour work days and definitely stayed on a much as I expected through my Zumba workouts.

This eyeliner is one of my many favourites, but it stands out to me as the best drugstore eyeliner. This gel eyeliner pen is known to be a dupe for the Benefit's They're Real eyeliner. The pen's tip can be quite tricky to get the hang of but it takes practice. It's long lasting practically 16 hours +, it's waterproof, smudge proof and comes out jet black. It's just the perfect liner and that's what I love about it cause I know my eyeliner will always be at it's best.

This is my most used beauty tool which I use to apply my foundation, at first I wasn't sure how to use this and thought it was a slow process but the more you use it the faster you get when you work with it. If you have dry skin it really helps if you wet the sponge before hand as it expands and gives you a bit of moisture to your face. It blends beautifully and really gives you that flawless finish. I love it because it really isn't that expensive but you do have to replace it every few months and the finishing results are perfect every time.

I swear by this concealer as it just does the job so well, it's high coverage and lasts a long time for something so cheap. I'm always repurchasing it and haven't tried many others as I just find myself going back to this one, it's great for under eyes or blemishes and blends in nicely using your finger or a brush. I love that it's great for your money and it's brilliant at concealing for a long lasting finish that's buildable

Sleek are one of many favourite drugstore brands out there. This trio palette is the perfect starting point for bronzed rose glowing cheeks. This is the palette in 'Fair' so the bronzer isn't too dark for my skin. All three powders are very pigmented and blend in together nicely. I love the highlighter the best as it's a pearly shimmer which just looks stunning on the cheekbones and the blusher gives a really natural flush on my cheeks. I love how it's a perfect size for traveling with a mirror included.

Barry M are good quality nail varnish, they have so many colours to choose from with high shine glossy finishes, they last for a few days until chipped but you can make it last longer if you touch up. I love this pale purple shade 'Lilac' as purple is my favourite colour and I wear it most out of all my polishes.

These brushes have completely changed my hair routine, as I have long hair it can get a bit tangley and that can cause me to become stressed and be in pain, well since using these brushes I no longer experience that. I love that it's small enough to take anywhere and that I can use it in the shower as it's waterproof, you can use it on dry or wet hair as it works just as well on both and glides through my hair. I haven't gone back to any other brush since trying these out.

I'm a normally a matte lipstick kind of girl but these lip crayons have been my favourite for everyday use, they hydrate your lips with a sheer tint that can be buildable depending how you like, and aren't sticky but leave your lips shiny. I love these not for the staying power but just how nice they feel on my lips as they are so comfortable and quick and easy to apply on the go.

This is my all time favourite dark red lipstick, it has a matte finish and lasts for about 4-6 hours before topping up, sometimes can be a bit drying on the lips so you'll need to take care in moisturising them, these lipsticks are very pigmented and I have many in my collection, they are easy to wear and don't bleed or cling to dry patches. I love the texture and how smooth it glides on with just one coat.

Over the years I've tried many moisturisers and only a few stand out to me, this being one of them. Whenever I start to feel dry or itchy this relieves it straight away, it's not heavy thick or greasy and soaks into the skin quite quickly leaving your skin silky soft for hours. I love this when the colder months draw in and my dry skin comes back as it clears it up straight away. It's made from natural ingredients which I love and comes with a pump making it easy to apply.

Don't forget to head on over to see what Rachele and Nabila's drugstore favourites are?

My 1st Blogiversary

Sorry I didn't blog last week but work got crazy busy and I was on 12 hour shifts every day. I just couldn't find the time, but right now I'm currently blogging from a beautiful lodge cabin in the Yorkshire Dales look out for a blog post which makes a change from blogging from my bedroom.

It all started when I was scrolling on facebook one day and my friend posted a link about her beauty blog 'Birds Words' link here I started reading through all kinds of posts about beauty and just found myself becoming so interested in reading about beauty products in so much detail, that it gave me so much inspiration I had to message her about it because I had questions.

That's when 'Oh Simple Thing' was born and I'm really proud of myself for sticking to it as blogging has now become a part of my life.
Everything you see/read on my blog has it's own personal touches which makes all blogs unique but what I've learnt over the entire year which until recently was how to balance work/life and blogging without the stress, as I've said from the beginning I blog because I enjoy writing about beauty, fashion and lifestyle and I don't force myself so it starts to feel like work. It has also given me a chance to brush up on my photography skills, so much that I feel like I need to move on and upgrade my bridge camera to an SLR as I feel very limited when it comes to those macro shots. It's become kind of a project to me as I designed my blog layout all from photoshop to HTML with the help from tutorials which is something i'm quite proud of and i'm always tweaking bits now and then.

My most enjoyable posts to write about have to be the more personal types such as my travel posts, monthly favourites and just general chatty posts like these link and link. My most popular posts are link and link.

I have definitely changed in so many ways since becoming a blogger as I can no longer shop the same. I'm constantly on the lookout for new products to try, whereas before I'd be like oh Rimmel has a new collection out when it's been out for months. Now I know release dates of when products appear in shops thanks to bloggers. Another thing that's changed about me is I can never just buy something and think oh this is nice, no I think okay first I need to take photos before I use this and how does it feel? how long does the colour last? etc. Blogging has definitely become an obsession in my life and I have gained so much make up in my collection which I honestly love.

Even though my blog is still a secret hobby to me that my family and friends know nothing about, well until someone I know from school decides to follow me on Instagram. I still love and will carry on blogging. I don't do it to gain fortune and fame and I don't care about the number of followers I have or comments on my posts but that's nice to know someone's reading it out there but simply for the pure enjoyment I get from it.

If you're reading this thinking about starting a blog then let me give you a bit of advice.
Think of a name that's personal to you and just go for it, you'll never know if you'll enjoy it until you try. Don't compare other blogs to yours when you're just starting out or ever in fact as you have to remember, we all have to start somewhere and things don't grow overnight, you have to work hard and it will start to show. Read a wide variety of blogs from different styles as this will help give you inspiration and spark off some blog post ideas and by reading more blogs it will help when it comes to writing, if your not very confident in your english skills. So that's some tips for you that i've picked up along the way.

I can't believe my little space on the web is now 1 year old. Thank you to everyone for all your support and lovely comments and here's to another year of blogging.

Latest Paperchase Stationery Discoveries

In the middle of September I decided to buy some stationery. Mainly because it was around the time when all the kids were returning to school and it reminded me of the time when I used to go shopping with my mum to buy new school supplies.

Ever since I was young I've loved collecting stationery, I used to have all the smelly gel pens, animal figured rubbers, writing sets from Christmas to send thank you messages to my family and pretty notebooks.

Since starting my blog I now have a reason to start using pretty stationery again as I plan and hand write all my blog posts before publishing them as I'm much more focused and productive than sitting on my mac with the Internet being a big distraction hello twitter.

Paperchase are great for stationery, I've always loved their quirky collections and they really have great stuff in at the minute.

I first had a wander around the whole shop before picking out my favourites as it's been a while. The first collection to catch my eye was the Mystic Rose collection. Purple is my favourite colour if you hadn't noticed so that's one reason why I love this collection and two is I love the gothic skull and roses design. I picked up this hardback casebound journal £10 with an embossed flower design cover and tints of metallic silver. It contains 192 lined sheets with rose gold edges and a lovely black ribbon to keep it closed, I just fell in love with the whole design and thought it would be a perfect blogging essential.

I then was on the hunt for some pretty sticky notepads and paperchase have a great selection of these, that's when I stumbled upon the Nordic Nights collection. I'm all for a woodland theme as I just love the cute little animals with owls being one of my favourites. I picked up the Sticky Note Box £5. This contains six separate sticky notepads in three different shapes and sizes making it great for all sorts of lists, reminders and notes I need to make along the way jotting down my blog posts.

The final things I needed in my stationery collection was of course pens & highlighters, so when I saw these amazing owl shaped mini highlighters £3.50 from the Owl Crowd collection I was full of excitement to quickly purchase them. This is what I love about Paperchase with their creativity, who needs boring plain highlighters when you can have owl shaped patterned ones.

To go with this 'what now seems to be' owl theme, I spotted this black and white owl mechanical pen £2.50 and this gorgeous Uni Ball Sign Broad Metallic Bronze pen £2.50 because who wants to write in just black ink.

All of these pieces have been really helpful towards my blogging routine and if you're interested in any of the collections I've mentioned throughout this post then I've left links in the places mentioned above.

I don't know about you but I do miss writing since leaving school/uni, I don't know what it is about seeing my scribbley handwriting down on paper just makes me feel like I can let loose and just write without thinking what to put next. Call me old fashioned I guess?

Do you like to use stationery? What's your favourite collections from Paperchase?

Estée Lauder Double Wear Lip Liner | Review

Estée Lauder is a brand that is starting to become a favourite of mine. After loving there double wear foundation full review here and the staying power I thought I'd check out the lip products.

This lip liner was the first to catch my eye because of the gorgeous rose nude colour in the shade 04 Rose. I have really been loving lip liners this year so I have been on the hunt for a nice good quality long lasting one and with the name double wear, I can only hope it lives up to it's name and have great staying power, as it claims to stay in place for 12 hours.

The first thing I noticed about this lip liner was how creamy the texture was as it just glided along my lips, none of that hard pointy pencil feeling you get from some lip liners.

When I wear this I sometimes just wear the liner itself as the colours lovely or I like to pair this with my Mac 'Faux' lipstick, it's not the perfect colour match but the liner defiantly helps my lipstick last longer and I get to use the lip brush that comes along with the liner which really helps with the application.

This liner is really easy to sharpen if you need to get that point perfect for precise definition.
It lasts for a very long time through food and drink without feathering or bleeding. It's the perfect liner if you ask me and I really enjoy wearing it but I think I need to find the right colour for my Mac 'Faux' lipstick so I might try the mac liners and see if they are as good.

Do you like to use lip liners? What's your favourites?

Lush Oxford Street Haul

Hello,

A few weeks ago now I went down to London to have a walk around Oxford Street and of course I had to pop in the world's biggest Lush store. Now I didn't want to go crazy and buy out the whole store because that could of easily happened with the amount of new products I saw but this store has THREE floors - If you love Lush a lot then this place is like heaven for you and you must visit this store at some point.

The Basement floor is the spa area which is filled with massage bars and candles.
The Ground floor had a mixture of hair care, skin care and make up items plus loads of 1 litre bottles of your favourite shower gels which is an Oxford Street exclusive.
The First floor has all the bath products so bubble bars, bath bombs, bath melts and a new thing which I haven't seen before is solid bath oils. To the back of the room it was filled of the gift boxes and towards the front was a bestsellers section / a seating area to have a play with the fun products.

I just wanted to buy Lush Oxford Street exclusive products on my visit so I picked up

When you look at this obviously it's going to be very colourful so I was interested in how this was going to look. When I dropped this in the bath, straight away it started fizzing from all sides different colours, which then created this gorgeous rainbow effect in the water with hints of glitter. It took a while for the bath bomb to completely fizz out, at least 5 mins and your left with this overpowering vanilla scent. After a while all the colours are mixed together leaving behind this murky grey colour which didn't bother me, what surprised me the most is how it made my skin feel silky but not moisturising as I did have to moisturise afterwards.

This bath bomb captures it's name very well, It fizzes a very sparkly blue with lines of pink and yellow creating a very galaxy styled picture in the water with the glitter acting as sparkly stars, which lasted all about 2-3 minutes after a while your left with this deep blue coloured water making your skin very sparkly, personally I didn't want to come out looking like a glitter ball so I did have a rinse in the shower before finishing. Overall it was a very pretty bath bomb to watch.

Bath Dunk Flowering Tea Bag Bubble Bar £4.95

I just loved the concept of this bubble bar, a giant tea bag to put in your hot bath. You can get 2-3 uses out of this depending on how you use it. In the end I crumbled the rest up and inside it was filled with orange flowers and jasmine bits which melt to create a calming smell to make you relax and was very softening on the skin. I really enjoyed using this bubble bar as I used this before going to bed to help me de stress but sadly I can't find this online or in my local Lush store as it was an Oxford Street exclusive.

At the time when I bought these products they were only available in Oxford Street Lush, but you can now find The Experimenter and Intergalactic available in most Lush stores. I would love to go down and see all the Christmas range but luckily my store has most of them in stock.

Have you tried the new Lush products? Have you been to the Oxford Street Lush before? Let me know your favourites?
