Weekend Inspiration #16 : Lindsey Wixson

I have a major crush on Lindsey Wixson right now, so I chose to her to be this weekend's inspiration.
 While some people might criticise her for being ugly and not like the other models, she's one of the models which inspired me the most. Read on to for to find out why I love her so much!

Born in Kansas, she always wanted to be a lawyer or chef and was often bullied for her gap tooth. The girls in her school actually who made a list of things that they didn't like about her and labeled her gap tooth as a "parking lot". She even had no friends when she was 13 and was socially awkward in class. I can't imagine her being socially awkward, she looks so confident now! 

Initially, major modelling agencies like IMG and Elite turned her down for fear her look wouldn't sell on the runway. However, Marilyn was the only agency which recognised her talent and signed her up. At a young age of just 15, she was selected by Steven Miesel to do a shoot for Vogue Italia and shot to fame when she was an exclusive for Miu Miu and Prada in 2010. She also had her first cover for the fall issue of i-D in the same year.

And look at her now! Despite qualms of her look not selling, she has taken the modelling and fashion world by storm with her unique cherubic look of bee-stung lips that makes her stand out in a sea of models who resemble one another and is even ranked No. 15 on Models.com. With campaigns for Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Versace and Jil Stuart under her belt, I can safely say she's doing very well! According to her agent, she's also very smart about the business and prefers quality over quantity, no wonder she's so successful. She also prefers to do her own makeup and when it's not necessary, she chooses not to put any at all! She's a major source of inspiration for me as an aspiring model because despite people telling her she's ugly and the like, she worked hard and got the success that she deserved. If that's not inspiration, I don't know what is.
