met gala 2014 : inside the party of the year
The Met Gala has always been a celebration of the talented and famous, being one of the only major events in the world that brings everyone who’s anyone together on one fabulous red carpet. From A-listers of Tinseltown to top supermodels and fashion editors to Billboard chart toppers, the Met Gala has earned its reputation for the Party of the Year with it’s dazzling guest list. With a dress code that changes yearly with the theme, the Gala’s red carpet has also been crowned the Oscars of fashion by Vogue for it’s myriad of stunning evening gowns. This year, the Met Gala celebrates couturier Charles James in “Charles James : Beyond Fashion” and attendees were encouraged to don their most extravagant, most statement making ball gowns à la the 20th century couturier.
While we can only weep that we’re not at the Met Gala, these pictures from Vogue would have to be the closest we can get to attending it. Shot by style shutterbug Phil Oh, these pictures deftly captures a glittering black tie gala on the move : from attendees maneuvering their way around glossy limousines outside hotels to gentlemen helping the ladies get pass paparazzi in their traffic-stopping gowns to an insider peek of what it’s like to actually be in the Met Gala. Expect everything from the most candid moments to an impromptu Chanel fashion shoot {cue Stella Tennant} to pre-red carpet and red carpet action, as well as the occasional but completely forgivable FOMO jealous streak.
