As cliché as it sounds : I'd rather be at Coachella. Who wouldn't want to be? Basking in the warm Palm Springs sun with the wind blowing in your face, wearing the most covetable gypsy-esque festival wear while rocking to the best summer playlist performed by top artists and lounging by the pool surrounded by picture perfect palm trees and equally stunning celebrities : Coachella has always been the music festival to be seen at, and drawing herds of everybody who's anybody. It's almost like the Oscars with the huge number of VIP parties, but instead of red-carpet elegance and Hollywood glamour, there's daytime barbecues and a whole lot of vintage/free-spirited vibes.
And with the wide array of styles, Coachella fashion is the best thing that happened since Fashion Week setting the style tone for the rest of summer. Think light, easy to wear pieces but with a unique twist, say a flower crown here, a charm necklace there, or even just going crazy with layers of tie dye, fringe and lace.
Coachella is held in the Indio desert, so naturally it's really hot. And while showing too much skin on the red-carpet receives flak, Coachella is the total opposite, infact the less you wear the better. {With the desert heat, the last thing you need is more sweating to ruin your perfect tan and well-done 'do}. Staples a la typical festival dress code were practically everywhere : suede boots, cropped denim shorts, lacy crop tops, bikinis/bralettes and fringed....well fringed everything {bags, boots and tops were all seen in fringe} just to name a few. The boho-chic/hippie looks were then cemented with accesories from cowgirl-esque floppy hats to Wildfox/MINKPINK round sunnies and the occasional feather headdress.
And when the buzz of the concerts die down and everyone's getting ready for the parties at night, lying on the desert ground watching the sky is actually one of the biggest unknown highlights at Coachella. The Indio sunset is truly magical, with wisps of clouds floating as the sun fades away into the horizon, at the same time giving Coachella its iconic scenery : the signature Ferris Wheel and palm trees and tents basking in the beautiful sunset hues as another season of music festivals come to an end....It's only been a few days since Coachella but writing this post really gets me all nostalgic just thinking about the magic that happened the past two weekends.
From dusk to dawn dance manias to sipping gin at the endless pool parties set to Royals on repeat, the sun-drenched snaps of the Palm Desert leaves us inspired once again as we reminisce the perfect weekend getaway that is Coachella 2014 and just getting lost in the beauty of it all. Although we'd most likely be having a huge case of FOMO, we can't help, but dream about warm desert winds and long summer nights.
