Marc Jacobs X Sephora

marc jacobs beauty shop1 Marc Jacobs Beauty Collection Now Available on Sephora
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT , the long-awaited Marc Jacobs Beauty is finally here! It's one of the most (or it's the most) highly anticipated collaboration yet this year and I was totally thrilled when it was announced on 9 August, now we finally have a new cosmetic label to obsess over and adore. The A-list designer is known for his innovative designs, and with already two clothing lines and multiple fragrances (Dot, Honey and Daisy etc) under his belt, he now adds another in the form of his eponymous beauty line. Like his works of art on the runway, expect luxurious and exquisite textures as well as fabulously rich hues from one of the most creative and colourful (personality-wise) designers in the fashion world.

The colour collection of a total of 122 products, prices ranging from $18 to $78, marks Sephora's first ever global launch. Offering every must-have in a beauty junkie's dream stash (think nail polish, colour correctors, concealer and brow gel), he also christened them with cheeky names in the likes of "Boy Tested, Girl Approved," signature a la Jacobs, making this a seriously covetable one-stop shop for everyone's beauty needs (and wants). His genius has also led to the amazing invention of Blacquer, the blackest, shiniest black and the perfect shade that can effortlessly channel glamour and class. Get this shade in Magic Marc'er Precision Pen Eyeliner, Lash Lifter Gel Volume Mascara and Highliner Gel Crayon.

Of all places, he chose his Jean Dunand art deco black lacquered coffee table in his upscale Manhattan home as his inspiration for the gorgeous glossy packaging, taking his penchant for shine to a whole new level. The packaging is practically a tribute to one of his shiniest possessions, which simple yet sleek design Mr. Jacobs favors."When you have something that has that kind of finish that's so particular and beautiful, it doesn't need to be ornate," he said. Being ever one who appreciates art and culture, he was also inspired by the arc in an Ellsworth Kelly painting for the nail polishes' bottom. Even Sephora execs had to measure the curve, which resembles a smile and spend a long 3 months just to create the perfect shape.

Need some reference? Look no further than Sofia Coppola's look at the Met Gala or the Marc Jacobs Fall RTW show. Apparently, he road-tested the beauty products on Sofia Coppola and the nail polishes on the runway. Can't wait to lay your hands on these amazing things? Shop them at Sephora here.

"It's the art of getting dressed and creating one's identity," he said. "Makeup is the finishing accessory."

"I see beauty in many things, and I am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It's unexpected and it surprises you,"

"I think the idea of transforming into this person you want to be is a lot of fun... it's this idea of a young woman enjoying creating her look, getting ready for her night out, or her night after her night out,"

"I like the transformative qualities of fashion and fashion to me is not just clothing, it’s handbags, it’s shoes, it’s clothes, it’s hair, it’s makeup, it’s fragrance, it’s the whole ritual of making those choices, of enjoying the ritual, of making the choices that will tell the world who you want to be that day."

Will Marc Jacobs beauty become a favourite in the fashion world with tough competition from Chanel, YSL and Tom Ford? I have a very good feeling it will!

I’m a big believer when the stars align things are meant to happen.

Mango X Anna Selezneva

While mooching around Fashion Gone Rogue, I chanced upon a stunning lookbook that made my jaw drop. It was Anna Selezneva for Mango's Fall 2013 collection! I can't believe how excited I was when I discovered it, it was almost as exciting as when I found out that Cara Delevingne (my all-time favourite) was the face of Chanel (my favourite luxury label) last year! I've only just discovered who Anna Selezneva is, but I've seen enough to say that she has become one of my favourite models.

With razor-sharp bone structure and piercing pale blue eyes, this Russian clotheshorse has been making waves with her strikingly unique look and has become a favourite among top editors, photographers and designers, having recently walked for Versace at Paris Haute Couture Week. Anna was discovered when she was 17 while waiting in line at McDonald's (of all places!) and was immediately signed to Paris-based Silent Models.

Since making her catwalk debut in the same year, she has escalated to supermodel status due to her sharp yet sultry look and even people like Carine Roitfield have heralded her as the next big thing. She has numerous covers under her belt, including seven international editions of Vogue as well as Harper's Bazaar, Numero and V magazine. Labels who have favoured her come from the likes of Juicy Couture, Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani, Versace, Calvin Klein, Chloe, Chanel, Vera Wang and of course, Mango.

Anna has long been a favourite of Mango, appearing in their catalogues for past collections. This time, she replaces Miranda Kerr as the face of the Fall 2013 lookbook, which was lensed in Brooklyn, New York by shutterbug Lachlan Bailey and styled by Geraldine Saglio who had a claim to fame for her work in Vogue Paris. This season, Mango showcases a range of casual yet stylish street looks featuring ripped denim, jackets and a variety of textures and prints.

Obsession du Jour : Lancôme X Alber Elbaz

Feeling blue on the first day of school? Here's a Monday mood lifter: The makeup collection by Lancôme and Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz is finally here!
Hitting the counters last week on June 15, the limited-edition beauty collection, called " Lancôme X Alber Elbaz" features Lancôme's world-famous Hypnôse mascara series, among eye colour palettes, mascaras and false eyelashes, with the packaging now coming in gorgeous and artistic hearts, stars and dots. When it was announced earlier this year, it was definitely one of the most hyped about collaborations in the beauty world for 2013. When I first saw the collection, I immediately fell head over heels in love with it!The colourful sketches by Mr Elbaz are tres cute and has " Alber Elbaz " written all over it. I bet that it would be a hit not only among Lanvin and Lancôme fans, but also to those who are new to both brands.

“I spend my time backstage at the Lanvin shows, and when I come out at the end, all I see are people’s eyes,” Elbaz told Style.com. This has inspired him to focus on eyes for this collection and who knew? The shape of the Hypnôse mascara containers actually resemble the shape of a woman's figure! Talk about pure genius.

Alber Elbaz is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most influential fashion designers. But beyond that, he is also the most talented,” Youcef Nabi, president of Lancome International, told WWD. “His sense of luxury, his vision of femininity and that hint of audacity resonate perfectly with the new values of the Maison Lancome. We are extremely proud and happy that, with us, he is set to channel his universe in the world of makeup for the very first time.”

In conjunction with the launch,  Lancôme released a one and a half minute film based on Mr. Elbaz delightful sketches and it took six months to produce and animate. The result? An adorable film oozing with fun and whimsy, centering around fabulous characters which turn into Hypnôse mascara bottles after strutting down the catwalk. Here are some snippets of the film :

And now, the film!

In love with them already? You can purchase them from emporiums from Sephora to Selfridges, prices ranging from $29 to $51. You may also watch the other trailers and teasers here.

What do you think of this collaboration? Do you wear Lancôme?
